​Church/Ministry Partners

As a non - profit Christian counseling agency we are unique and different from other therapists that may be in private practice. We are an outreach ministry that is set up much like a church, but with Professional Licensed Therapists in the state of Florida on staff. As ministry partners, we believe that we need to work together and each of us plays an important unique role with a variety of gifts and talents. We also live in a time of increased liability for churches in being able to provide lay counseling to their church members. Those days appear to be numbered. There is now too much risk due to the level of need clients have, combined with the risk of being sued for treating an issue beyond one's training. The majority of issues that church members will present with will need both professional assessment and treatment, which often includes working closely with those in the medical field. As a result of these mentioned issues, there is a need for a counseling ministry partner to come along side the church and provide a variety of resources related to the mental health needs of the church members. It is critical that we work together. ​
As a ministry partner we can provide the following:​​
  • A counseling referral resource for individuals, couples and families within your church at an agreed upon discounted rate
  • A counseling referral resource for church staff and family members. This allows for a confidential location for church staff to go to when needed
  • A counseling referral when members present with mental health issues that are beyond church staff or Biblical counselor's limits
  • A resource for churches and their staff for the more difficult issues that Christians may face but are often hard to address in the church such as abuse, sexual addiction, abortion etc. 
  • Possible onsite counseling office staffed at the church by Professional Licensed Therapists of Southwest Florida Christian Counseling
  • The ability to provide professional therapist led groups within your church covering a variety of topics that range from basic marriage issues to more complex recovery issues covering a variety of topics that include: divorce recovery, grief and loss, abuse, addiction and abortion recovery, to name a few
  • Consultation and training for church staff on mental health issues that they may face in the church and when to refer. We can provide an assessment/checklist that identifies key issues in need of referral 
  • Consultation and training regarding staff relations
  • Support and training for grief and loss issues
  • Premarital counseling
  • Marriage retreats at designated retreat center locations
  • Workshops on a variety of topics for church ministries. These workshops may fall under ministries such as marriage and family ministries, recovery ministries, singles ministries, aging and caregiving, youth ministries, to name a few

This list is not exhaustive but a starting point. It is important that we work together as ministry partners in which each of us provide a critical role for the body as whole.
